Acting on behalf of Highcross Strategic Advisors Limited, Graham + Sibbald have let Unit 40, Westfield North Courtyard Cumbernauld, to McNicholas Construction (Holdings) Limited.

Westfield North Courtyard enjoys a central location ideally placed for access to the Scottish motorway network. Unit 40 extends to 1,272 sq m (13,690 sq ft) and provides McNicholas with secure storage accommodation. The tenant has taken a three year lease at a rental of £3.94 per sq ft.

McNicholas Construction is a well known service provider with wide experience of working in the utilities, communications and rail markets throughout the UK.”

GS celebrate the continued success rate of staff passing RICS APC.

New Chartered Surveyor, Lindsey Howie MRICS remarks: “I was delighted to pass my APC at the first attempt. It is quite demanding studying whilst also working but it was worth it in the end. A minimum of 2 years training is required in addition to an RICS accredited degree. It is necessary in the APC interview to demonstrate your depth of knowledge to ensure you can represent the RICS in a professional manner. I was well guided by Graham + Sibbald’s structured APC training programme which monitored my progress throughout. A career in residential surveying may not be the obvious first choice for women but I relish the challenge.”

Major housing sale moves nearer completion.

The disposal of over 300 surplus MOD houses in Kinloss is progressing according to schedule. Four preferred bidders have been identified and have delivered presentations to Defence Estates outlining their proposals for redevelopment of the estate.

Douglas Mowat of agents Graham + Sibbald comments: “We are pleased with how the disposal is progressing to date. Each of the four preferred bidders has interesting proposals which we feel will benefit the village and local community. In mid June we will meet with representatives from Moray Council, Findhorn & Kinloss Community Council and the RAF to obtain their views on the community proposals of the various bids. Following this meeting it is hoped that a single preferred bidder will be identified. We expect the eventual purchaser to fully consult with the local community at all stages of the redevelopment process.”

Graham + Sibbald are pleased to have been appointed as Property Managers of the new development of four flats for disabled ex-Service personnel in Motherwell, by the Scottish Veterans' Garden City Association (SVGCA). The expanding Graham + Sibbald architectural department, has designed the building.

A formal ground breaking ceremony took place at the site in Motherwell just off Anderson Street on Thursday May 22^nd. Provost Tom Curley in whose ward the development is situated, was guest of honour and dug out the first spadeful of soil together with the local secretary Mrs Mary Sweeney, watched by the Chairman of the Association Colonel Robert Watson, Gavin McClymont, representing Graham + Sibbald, and Stuart Ross, Director from the Building Contractor’s company Ross and Laidlaw and Sons ltd.

The local secretary Mrs Mary Sweeney said: “We are very thankful to the North Lanarkshire Council who has given the lease on this area of land, for four new wheel chair friendly flats. It has taken a while to see it all come together”.

The Scottish Veterans' Garden City Association (SVGCA) has launched an appeal for six million pounds to enable them to build 60 new affordable houses. The Association is busy looking for new sites for these properties. Further developments are taking place in Dundee, Scone (Perthshire) and Penicuik (Midlothian).

Graham + Sibbald’s Building Surveying Department have taken over the project management of the construction of four large residential properties at: The Moor, Madderty, near Crieff.

The project consists of the construction of four large dwelling properties each with a detached triple garage. The properties are in an excellent location offering exceptional panoramic views over the Strathearn Valley and to the hills beyond. The properties comprise of approximately 3896 sq. ft. (362 sq. m.) including 5 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, living room, sun room, kitchen, larder and office space above the triple garage. Each plot will be fully landscaped with approximately an acre of land.

The buildings are constructed using a timber frame with: stonework, render, weatherboarding externally and the roofs are slated with a Spanish tile.

The works for a private developer have been project managed by Graham + Sibbald for over a year. The original buildings onsite were demolished over a three month period, prior to the construction of the first new house. Once approval was granted work onsite started in June 2007. The construction of the properties is phased and the first property will be completed by April 2008. Once the first property is completed two houses will then be built simultaneously.
